People experience headaches as discomfort or pain in the head.  Migraines on the other hand can be severe and debilitating.  Symptoms include sensory disturbance, weakness, vomiting, nausea and severe pain.  People often experience vomiting followed by severe pain.

Migraines are caused by vascular changes.  Blood vessels supplying blood to the brain trigger the pain and causes for this phenomenon vary from person to person.  It is estimated that worldwide 10-15% of people suffer from this condition.

There are a variety of drug based medicines on the market that have been developed to block the symptoms.  There are also natural remedies that can be used to alleviate migraine without any of the side effects associated with drug-based medicines.

Here are some precautions and Home Remedies you can try as an alternative:

  • Keep yourself hydrated.
  • Take a hot bath and apply a cold compress to your head to minimize the effects.
  • Lie down in a darkened room to ease sensitivity to light and noise.
  • Learn some basic facial massage techniques to ease tension in the face and head.  This can ease pain and increase blood circulation.
  • Soak feet in a warm foot bath as this again increases blood circulation and can prevent nausea.
