Hog Plum - the unusual tart

Filed under: Herbal Remedies — Jane @ 1:30 pm

The Hog plum is a tree that grows twenty feet tall and the leaves are very long.  It bears clusters of green fruit that eventually turn yellow. The skin has a hard thick coat and when preparing you find it is juicy but acidic to taste. The plums are used in pies just the same as the red plums that are in the supermarkets, and still require an amount to sugar to sweeten to a suitable taste.

However there are various illnesses that the plum can be used as part of Home Remedies that can be helpful and cost effective.

The hog plum is widely used as an herbal remedy by using the plants leaf and trunk to help a pregnant woman to start in labour or if she requires her milk when feeding the baby to flow naturally, and is particularly useful to treat pre vaginal infections.

The other areas that the plum is used widely for is digestive problems, stomach cramps, colds, burns or small infected sores including the common sore throat. It has also been reported that there was research done to establish if the plum leaves helped to treat intestinal eggs and this was confirmed that there was a positive result with regard to humans and animals.
