There are some people who suffer from eczema who are deficient in fatty acids.  This means that they are lacking in omega 3 fatty acids which are found in flaxseeds and cold water fish and also deficient in omega 6 fatty acids which can be obtained from evening primrose oil, borage oil and blackcurrant seeds.

There have been studies carried out that have identified that medicinal oils high in gamma-linolenic acid, such as evening primrose oil, can benefit the skin condition.  A suggested dose has been to take up to 3000 milligrams per day in capsule form.

Other research has highlighted the benefits of fish oil which is also rich in omega 3 fatty acids.    Another great oil to take is flaxseed oil which is rich in alpha-linolenic acid.  The body converts this into omega 3 fatty acids.

To keep your skin in optimum health and boost your overall well being make foods rich in omega 3 fatty acids part of your everyday diet.  Includes foods such as oily fish – salmon, mackerel, anchovies, sardines and herring, ground flaxseeds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds and green leafy veg.

In addition to the fatty acids include try Herbal Remedies such as dandelion, Echinacea, burdock, liquorice and goat kola to soothe symptoms.
