The skin care market is a multi-billion pound enterprise and there is a dizzying number of products available to beat back the ravishes of time, cleanse your pores and sooth your acne if you’re the sensitive type.  However if you have skin problems or sensitive skin and want to ensure your treating your skin in with chemical free products it can be difficult to find something to suit in the shops.

Have no fear!  There are a plethora of Home Remedies you can try:

• Keep your skin fully hydrated by drinking plenty of water.  2 to 3 litres is the recommended amount.  Hydrated skin looks radiant and maintains its elasticity. Diet plays a very important role in maintaining a healthy skin. Your diet should be balanced and well nourished with vitamins and minerals.

• Wash your hair regularly with a natural shampoo product to keep your scalp clean and free of excess oils

• Try rubbing your acne with garlic cloves regularly – garlic has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce the redness.

• Mash an avocado and use as a cleansing and moisturizing face wash once or twice a week.

• For a face peel, add a spoon of fresh yeast to a couple of tablespoons of lemon juice.  Dried yeast will do too.  Apply to your skin and once it dries you can gently peel the mask away or wash it off with warm water.

• To sooth inflamed acne, grind and blanch some bay leaves.  Allow the mixture to cool and apply to your acne.

• An old favourite – put a small amount of toothpaste on the acne.  If left overnight this will reduce the swelling.  Alternatively dot egg white on the pimples and leave overnight.

• To leave your skin oil free wash your face in salt water.
