Vitamin D Could Prevent MS

According to a recent study carried out across seven million people evidence was found that suggests keeping up your levels of vitamin D could help to prevent people developing multiple sclerosis (MS).  The study revealed that people with high levels of vitamin D in their blood stream were around 62% less likely to develop MS.  This was noted predominantly in white skinned people and may explain why there is an increase in cases the further from the equator people live.  As sunlight is weaker the further away from the equator you get, and sunlight is required to produce vitamin D there could be a direct correlation.  More tests need to be done however to confirm these findings.

Eczema and Fatty Acids

There are some people who suffer from eczema who are deficient in fatty acids.  This means that they are lacking in omega 3 fatty acids which are found in flaxseeds and cold water fish and also deficient in omega 6 fatty acids which can be obtained from evening primrose oil, borage oil and blackcurrant seeds.

There are many minerals and vitamins that have blood glucose controlling qualities.  To work as efficiently as is necessary your body requires plenty of these vitamins and nutrients.  There is little research available to support that singular or particular blends of vitamins and minerals can increase your body’s blood glucose management and more research is needed in the field.

Organic is the latest marketing money spinner and this has now extended to the availability of organic vitamins.  We’ve been pre-conditioned to believe that organic is better – but are organic vitamins any better than their synthetic counterparts?

Bright Eyes

We often take our eyes for granted working long hours in front of the computer, leaving them unprotected in the sun and avoiding that long overdue visit to the opticians.  Our eyes are intricately designed to give us keen vision in varying degrees of light and at close and long distance ranges.  Located at the front of the face they are susceptible to trauma, foreign objects and particles and infection.  Overuse can strain the eye muscles and in extreme cases damage the quality of sight.
