If like me you are a long time sufferer of acne rosacea you will have experienced the excruciatingly itchy redness and swelling on your nose, cheeks and forehead.  You will have no doubt tried numerous ways of covering up the blotchiness and will have cringed as well-meaning friends and colleagues asked if you were suffering from a cold!

Acne rosacea is believed to be caused by the dilation of tiny red blood vessels in the face.  It appears mainly in the blush zone of the face and mainly affects fair skinned people.  Spots, pimples, red cysts and pink irritated eyes are characteristic of the illness and afflicted areas include the forehead, nose, cheeks and chin.  It can be an upsetting and frustrating condition.

There is currently no known cure for acne rosacea however there are natural skin care solutions that can help to alleviate and soothe the condition.

Herbs such as calendula, burdock and clivers can help to calm the symptoms of acne rosacea.  In Traditional Chinese Medicine herbs such as barberry and gentian are often recommended.

There are also several herbal teas available which can help to build healthy skin and conteract the effects of the rosacea.  Try teas such as Dandelion and White Mulberry.  Green Tea is renowned for its anti-oxidant qualities and is great at regenerating rosacea skin.

Aloe Vera juice is also recommended to reduce the inflammation and redness caused by the acne and with regular and consistent use can dramatically reduce the effects.
