I love to travel, we all like to do. I like seeing new places, or simply getting away from the big city, but I hate the getting there bit, because I know what it expects me: trave sickness. On boats, cars, and even planes, it always affects me. In the past I have always used Dramanine.
Travel or motion sickness is caused by movement in different directions, particularly when the individual is sitting or standing still in a moving vehicle, boat or plane.
It can also happen when there is a loss of visual contact with the outside horizon or due to pressure changes in the inner ear during air travel.
These events may cause confusion in the balance center of the inner ear, leading to fatigue, nausea, dizziness and even vomiting. It is not known why some people are more prone to motion sickness than others. While children may eventually outgrow motion sickness as their perceptual abilities mature, some people suffer the symptoms throughout their lives.
But apparently aromatherapy can help. Add few drops of Ginger Essential Oil to a handkerchief or a tissue and inhale during the journey.
Another way is to mix it with a carrier oil (for example Sunflower, Sweet Almond, or Wheatgerm Oil) and apply to temples and stomach before and during travel.
If you are travelling by car your could use an Essential Oil Car Diffuser. This works by plugging into your lighter socket, just add few drops.
The last trip I did I finally enjoyed also the travelling but without any need of Dramamine.
